Possible new engine
Hi! I'm new here and every bit as new when it comes to owning a mustang (I bought her from a friend about 2 months ago)...I'm your typical college girl that couldn't tell you the difference between a spark plug and solenoid BUT I'm capable of learning new things and the whole modification process intrigues me. I own a 3.8L V6 2004 Mustang. It currently has about 95K miles on it. I just replaced the whole clutch system which made me realize that I love this car more than I thought so instead of trading it in I've decided to keep it and build her up. I'm not completely sure how long mustang engines are expected to last living in a tropical region (South Florida) but I'm prepared to drop a whole new engine in her when the time is right. My question is can anyone recommend a good company that will sell me the entire engine? I have a mechanic that can install it so I'm not worried about that part. I'm new at this but I do know I'm not trying to drop a bigger engine because of the gas mileage issue. This car is my daily driver and since I drive 15 miles to and from Miami everyday I need a car that will maintain good gas mileage. So any advice would be greatly appreciated!! I can pick up in town or have the engine shipped so business location is not a concern for me. THANK YOU!!! and I looked forward to being on here more often as the years progress

Well there's really not much diff in a V6 and a V8 in MPG so don't sweat the difference if you want to up to a V8. Engines can be pricey. Ford themselves sell some great crate engines. But you can find good lower mileage engines at junk yards and such.

Welcome to the forum (from another South FL member). There are a couple of places to look for a good quality used 3.8L. These motors last a LONG time if you take care of them. (By long time I mean Honda better look out.) 95K on yours (if it's been taken care of) is just getting broken in. If you want someone with a background in the V6 to look it over, just let me know.

95k miles doesn't mean she's tired and needs a new engine yet! Engine is still just a baby, take good care of it and you'll have more miles than your roommate's 1992 Toyota Camry.....and it will be much more fun to drive, hehe.
