Default new issue with shifter!

So on the way to work today, I had trouble at a stop light, I couldn't get the shifter to put it into first gear. I had to put into second then into first for it to let me. The issue repeated itself during lunch, and the difficult gears are first and fifth. The clutch is new I had a shop put it in two weeks ago. I drive pretty calmly I don't think i burnt it already. What could cause this?

My 00 V6 had that. The trannies were notorious for wearing out the first gear synchro and reverse synchro gears.

My work around was when either gave me a problem I'd quickly put it into nuetral and move the stick all the way to the Right and all the way back to the left quickly and firmly, then try again. 9 out of ten times this worked on the first try. On some rare occassions it took twice. Never had first gear or reverse not engage after doing this.

Now that I think about this, ever have the gear oil changed in the tranny? Could just be gum and varnish build up too.....

You know. I'm not sure if the oil has ever been changed in tranny. I bought the car last year and JUST started driving it regularly last month.

Anyone know where to get the little tool to take out and put in the transmission fluid?

Should just be a standard ratchet extension.
