Default In-Firewall Cold Air Intake System!?

So, I just got this 2003 Stang. And when I went to replace the airfilter. I was met with a curious sight. There was no airfilter in view. I discovered it must be in the side of the car! The person before me put in this after market cold air intake system. Any ideas on how to access it for those of you who have seen this before? Thank you.

You probable have to remove the wheel and tire to get a look at it and then perhaps the fender liner. Just another dumb aftermarket CAI. You are lucky the filter seems to be protected enough to not ingest water when it you drive in the rain.

Well, that is fantastic. Yeah, it's pretty dumb. Do you think it might even just be easier to replace the entire system?

Actually, just lay down under the raised front bumper. You can reach up into the fender and access it pretty easy. If it's not a giant filter (like my dumb@$$ got) you can even pull it into the engine compartment through the original intake access on the side of the firewall.
