Default Performance ONLY

I'm new here but not new to cars in general. I have an '05 V6 stick with less than 1,500 miles (thanks Carmax) and I want to go ahead with the very first mod. I subscribe to the motto: first make it fast and then make it pretty.
I don't want to spend lotsa cash trying different parts so my question is, which aftermaket exhaust (muffler) gives the best actually experienced performance? ( it could be seat-of-the-pants experience, subjective or dyno-ed, anything helps)
Please no duals, no take offs, no GT wannabe's. I like a V6 because it is a V6. Don't care much about loudness or looks, just PERFORMANCE, and reliability or course (as in no low end loss). I know you guys are a very knowledgeable and experienced bunch so any help would be very much apreciated.

Thanks for the quick answers. I'm going to include the MRT in my research...adding to the FRT, JBA, Magnaflow, etc.
Question is, is it really loud INSIDE the car? I want to be able to keep a conversation while driving also.

The MRT. I think scrming said it actually gives you about 20rwhp. He got 10 with the Magnaflow and 10 more with the MRT

Yeah my memory is a little shaky. I think you're right, it was 17.
