i know all the engine mods will add hp to our cars but what about things that will help get it to the ground. i am aware of the Tlok and gears but what about an aluminum racing driveshaft or lightened flywheel. are our cars to new and not competitive enoughf to be in the racing scene that much or do they make things like that for our cars and if so how much and where to buy them.

The T-lok is on the V6 Mustang store site.

Honestly, the cheapest place to get the T-lok is on Ebay. The seller is sssmracing. If you don't want to bid, he has several for $175, Buy it Now:

Seriously, though... it's my opinion that the Detroit TrueTrac is the best option out there. It's a bit more at $412 (drivetrainspecialists.com) but can take over 400 RWHP (unlike the T-lok), and never needs rebuilding.

If you don't plan on a serious power adder (supercharger, turbo, etc...), the T-lok will be fine. scrming's has been holding up fine with his 125 shot of nitrous, but PowerHouse411 blew theirs out with turbo and nitrous.

but what about an aluminum racing driveshaft or lightened flywheel.
The info below your post indicates you have an automatic, the autos don't have a flywheel. They have a flexplate instead. An aluminum driveshaft will increase performance slightly because it reduces the amount of mass the motor/ tranny is spinning to get the power to the rear, but it doesn't do anything to improve the transfer of power to the ground if that's what you're asking. The best way to do that is the ol' standby t-lock, and suspension improvements.

I wouldn't bother with that, I would go with a set of LCA's after your tlock and gears. That will help your take offs big time.

Actually I was talking with the guys at the shop that did my install... I asked them if I should upgrade to the Detroit TrueTrack... they said "NO!" They said the TrueTrac is not necessarily any stronger than the Track-Lock! All this shop does is clutches and gears... they've seen there share of blown rear-ends... They explained that say you chip a tooth and the piece of metal has no where to go but between the gears which basically causes the TT to explode! They said that when a track-lock fails it usually just splits in half... but when a TT fails it looks like someone threw a hand grenade in there! LOL!

actually Powerhouse broke there Track-Lock by dropping the clutch at like 5500+ RPM, on very sticky tires, WHILE THE N20 WAS SPRAYING!!! They had the n20 setup to come on at part throttle!!! I don't think many of here will be doing that! LOL!

I don't buy that for a second, sorry scrming. I've personally looked inside of both, and the TrueTrac is definitely better made.

I've never heard of a TrueTrac failing. I have, however, heard of several Trak-loks failing....
