I found an AFE stage 1 for $189; should I buy it?

That's a real good price. I think I paid $215 for my on Ebay (of course I sold it $120 a few weeks ago). There is another thread on this intake you should read from a few days ago.

If u are interested i am willing to sell u mine for 125 , its been on for a month and a half only. Iam doing nitrous and dont like the idea of mounting the sprayer on a plastic tube. Let me know , i can take it off and have it packed in a day or two.

You went from the AFE to the K&N? That's a bit of a loss in gains, eh? AFE has been shown to have 12 hp... the K&N has 7. Or is your sig just not updated?

Like I said, there was a thread of the AFE CAI last week where myself and Afixer debated the real gains of the AFE. I debated that 12 hp actually made it to the wheels. No CAI is going to make a huge improvement to your performance anyway. It will be a combination of CAI, tuner, exhaust and other mods that will show you the greatest improvement. All of my improvements were minor until I tuned my car, then it all came together.

Pat- How is the tune from Superchips?
Is there an option on the unit for a K&N intake?

I am the minority when it comes to this tuner. I have no idea how it compares to other tuners, however, I immediately noticed a tremendous gain in lower gears. It also gives you the option to get rid of the speed limiter, rev limiter and when the electric fan comes on. They claim a 10% increase in hp, I would say its a solid 12 to the wheels. Gas mileage improved as well. There is no option for the K&N on the tuner.

i saw that afixer has a dyno for the AFE, it was a 12+

...actually, the AFE was developed on afixer's car...that dyno that is posted all over the place is actually his lol

Thanks for the feedback. It is true that not many people have the Superchips.
I just checked the dyno sheet for it and that 12hp is tested from the 87 octane tune.
I would assume that if you use the 91-93 octane tune, the hp will increase.
