Did this strange thing happened to anybobody? Sometimes, when I start the car there is nothing happening, the lights in the dash don't even come on... like the battery is dead. After a moment, and after having taken the key out, I start the car again and it work but the radio is reset (the clock is at 12:00) but the stations are still in the meory. It happened twice today and it happened once or twice before..... Strange strange strange

Check your battery connections... Make sure they are tight...

Hmmm. This is interesting!

I bought my 05 at the end of March 06. It was on the dealer lot since April 05. It was a showroom car (at least when I bought it), and the battery was pretty much dead when we looked at it. It couldn't move the convertible top when the engine wasn't running, but did have enough to start the car a bit sluggishly.

I picked up the car a couple of days later and the dealer claimed to have charged the battery. When we got it home and started playing with it in the driveway that night, it was clearly still dis-charged so I charged it overnight using a standard 6 amp automotive type charger. This battery was only the second one I've ever seen take more than 6 amps when charging, ironically both within the last two months. After about an hour, it did drop to the 4-5 amp range and by the next day it was less than 2 amps. All seemed OK.

Two days later, we began to notice the clock reset to 12:00 when starting the car in the morning. Out came the charger, and it was back to +6 amps current draw. I was certain I had some kind of large battery drain going on while the car was off, and suspected the alarm system.

After the second overnight charge I measured the battery, which was holding 13.60 VDC with the ignition off. There is a slight power drain by whatever is powered on when the car is off (alarm, etc), and I observed that the voltage was dropping by 0.01 VDC every few seconds. This can be normal for a battery that just came off of charge, but when I turned the ignition on, I observed the voltage drop to increase rapidly. Within 1 minute, the battery voltage was below 10 VDC and continuing to drop.

I did get the battery replaced, not exactly under warranty, but on the dealer's dime anyways, and everything has been fine since. I didn't get a 'Mustang' battery. The V-6 is supposed to have a BXT 96R, I got a 40R, which I think is a Focus battery. Both have 500 CCA, which is the key number.

Hope this information helps anyone with a similar problem.
