Default Car start and shut off

I just went to lunch and when I started my car it was idling very high. I wait a few minutes and then the car just shut off on its own. Then when I got home and was paralling parking and put the car in reverse, I heard a noise when I shifted from drive to reverse.

Has anyone else had this happen? I have checked the TSBs for this but didn't see anything.

As an aside, the car is going into the shop on Saturday because of the brakes squealing and the window tint being scratched, but will be adding the two above issues to the list as well.

It might be that floor mat thing again. Obviously it's idling too high for some reason. That's why you heard the clunk when you put it in reverse.

No this wasn't the floor mat.

The problem started when I was sitting still at the parking lot at work. Started the car at the tach went to over 2k and dropped and then the car shut off by itself. I restarted it but it was fine.

Then I drove home about 4 miles and stop completely..no throttle problem and then shifting from drive to reverse it made a noise but can' describe it - wasn't a banging noise.

Coming home this evening - didn't do it again or make any noise shifting to reverse.

Weird but I am going to mention it when I take it to the dealer on Saturday.

it might have been a shift solenoid that got stuck, but pretty hard to diagnose with out hearing it
