Default Using Ramps

I'm thinking of investing in ramps. (You may recall me asking about jacking earlier...)

I've had friends tell me that ramps can slide, topple, etc. Are ramps dangerous, or pretty straightforward? What kind should I buy? What should I avoid? I will be lifting the car you see below. I am considering possibly building them with 2x10 spruce. Take a look at this link. Please let me know what you think of that idea, too.

i just used them today.. and they were fine.. i was able to run cable from my trunk all the way into my engine bay... they are safe... just as long as you take proper precautions..

Make your own ramps. Mustang World has plans for really good homemade ramps. I used 2x12" s to make mine. They're six feet long and 12" high. No problems with low clearance, and you could drive a Sherman Tank up them without sliding. I stand mine up in the corner when not in use. It's great just to drive right up them.

dude, go to autozone and buy a set... by the time you invest in materials to make ramps you will have spent more... by the way, ramps in the traditional sense are worthless to me since I dont have enough clearance to drive up on them... I bought two sets... I jack the car up and set it on the back, then do the same on the front... nice and level an very good for changing oil, etc

Dude! If you made these six foot long ramps the rise is slow enough you could just drive up them no matter how low your clearance is. And I only have $60 bucks invested. No jacking time required, what a pain that must be each time.
