that sucks, you'll hit that 12
thanks....

I'm staying very positive about the whole thing... So while this year I'll just have fun with the 75HP shot (should still be in the 13's).. I'm thinking we're raisingthe bar for next year! I think we'll skip the 12's and go right to the 11's! LOL!!!
And the arms race continues!!!!!

It may not be cheap for a cam, but I think it's worth it to do a lot of the old hot rodding tricks to get more power N/A, then when you add a turbo or blower, or even N20, you'll be less likely to blow the motor up.

Uusally.

Excellent info at this website. All of you S/C guys should read the 4.0 tech section.

Good point but the weak points they point out should be taken into consideration. There is also interesting info on stroke and bore for future consideration, like when it's time to rebuild. By then (100k+ miles) there should be some very cool stuff being done to these motors.

Twenty years ago bolt on was relatively easy. We were just into ECM's, but transmissions were still mostly mechanical in their programming, and you could wake a tranny up with a B&M shiftpack. Even my week *** ( 86 Camaro) V8 responded pretty well to a Hypertech Stage 2 chip, then came the intake, the 3.73s, headers and I actually managed dual exhaust on that cat. When it was all said and done, I had a low 14 second car, out a 305.

Than came the Comp Cams magnum 270 and "cheap" set of bolt on heads, and then it's a low 13 sec car.

I agree cams and heads, while def not an easy mod anymore makes for a lot more potential down the road. It looks like right now though cams and heads for our cars amounts to about 3,000 in parts, so now we're talking S/C territory. While I don't how much an S/C adds to midly modified 4.0 I have to figure it's a good but more than a cam and head swap, right?

4.5 litre, that would be maybe a 270 cubic inch engine right?

Oh how I miss cubic inches instead of litres!

Seriously. I grew up hearing 305, 302, 350, 351, 400, 427, 454, 440, etc. Now it's 2.0, 2.3, 5.0, 5.7, 4.0, 4.6, 3.5, etc. I feel like I'm not even talking about an engine anymore. Could we please go back to cubic inches!?!?!?!

That was a rant at the world, not at any of you.
