Time to get super or turbo charged, why even have the thought of getting beat by a camry in your mind!

Not to mention the new hyndai "luxary" car is pushing 260hp, those maximas are rolling around with 260's or 270's, everyone seems to be bumping things up a bit and the 07 cars and 08 cars will have even more. Hell even the new v6 stang is said to have 260hp and the new c'marrow i'm guessing with have upper 200's if there z28 is going to be at 400hp. Where does that leave us? Is leaves us with some options, vortech, procharger, xcharger, or powerhouse turbo [8D] I know thats where I will be in a few months

 

Most are low 15's stock, Car & Driver got a 15.3 trapping 93mph for the automatic.

 

So they may have more HP.

With 50 more hp, the Camry does 0-60 in 6.8 seconds... that's 0.1 seconds above the auto V6 Mustang.

There's definetely a new breed of performance family car out there all around 260-270 hp... The Accord also comes to mind... of course, they're not geared for aggressive performance and they all seem to be front wheel drive. We've seen what 260 hp can do in the right hands... the previous generation Mustang GT was a great example of that. So, slap an intake and good tune on your ride and take 'em from a dig up to 60 LOL! Or, it's time for a supercharger!

 

That's hardly a fair comparison, considering the V6 models of the Hyundai Azera and the Maxima are both within the Mustang GT price range - and until the official go-ahead is confirmed about the Camaro, I wouldn't be too worried about them edging out the Stangs. Worry in two or three years, if they even go through with it by then, since that's the earliest date for production.

The V6 Camry is pretty much within the V6 Mustang range though, but it's still slightly heavier and fwd, and it doesn't have anywhere near the style.

Plus, a lot of these test numbers, as has been pointed out by some other MFers, aren't exactly real-world numbers. A lot of companies release official numbers that are impossible to replicate. Magazines are often just as bad - some of them even use mathematical formulas to 'adjust' their test numbers to reflect ideal conditions, which is the biggest pile of crap I've ever heard of.

 

I think the thing you should all consider the most is this: will being beaten by a Camry on the street make you regret buying a mustang instead of a Toyota?

I drove the new Accord with 6 speed, I was really surprised at how wimpy it seemed on performance. The salesman let me flog it pretty good too I think the Japanese car makers are focusing too much on HP and forgetting our old friend Mister Torque. Torque is where it's at!

 

Yep, and if people want to compare other v6's chp tou ours...well tune/intake & exhaust alone adds 30 rwhp so thats 40-45 chp, 250-255 chp and more ctq then the Camry or most other v6's right there, and the mod market is just growing for the s197 v-6, this engine is just detuned to crap from the factory due to emissions.

So with 700-800 in this car you have the same chp as expensive v6's, not bad IMO.

 

Speaking of weak Accord V6's, what ever happened to our fiend with his dads GT. LOL.
