Default RICER

Ok so ive been on the forums for about a month, and I am starting to think that the term "ricer" is used too much, so I am looking for a definition, and things that are done to a car that would put it in the ricer class...im talkin specifically mustangs though, not hondas, acuras neons etc....and dont say the 20 ft wing or the colored decals on the side, i think those might be a given...so lets hear it, so none of us "unintelligent" drivers and car modders turn our beautiful mustang into a stupid ricer...

people that slap gt emblems and supercharged emblems on their cars when they are neither. another one is having a huge cowl induction like on some of the old 5.0's that were making huge power, but not making really any more than stock.really it is when you make it look like you make huge power, but you don't. my definition of rice is a car that looks like a drifter car but can't drift an inch, a car that looks like a drage car, but runs close to stock, or a car that looks like a track car and has never seen a track.

the term ricer is thrown around way too much. it is part of the huge domestic vs import war. Some people call all asian imports ricers when they are great cars. I've seen huge power supras, skylines, evos, and sti's called ricers many times on streetfire.net.

I just feel to each his own. If one feels his/her mustang is beautiful being "ricified"(SP?) and they are happy driving it then they get a thumbs up from me. I do think it is a logical question that you ask though. For example, if little Johnny wants to stay away from that look, and purchases something that IS that look because they do not know what they are doing, LIKE MYSELF, it would help to know the differences. Good question Cash.

i think of a ricer as a car thats has everything dun to it..badly. example.. Cheap 18" wheels. cheap body kit, cheap Bad paint job on the extra parts, and a TERRIBLE LOOKING AND SOUNDING EXHAUST. also PURPLE NEON UNDERLIGHTING LOOKS AWEFULL! YELLOW/GREEN IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO IF U REALLY WANT TO GO.

and i think that a car that looks like it makes huge power that dusnt isnt a ricer, more of a clone. Like putting GT badges on a v6, i personaly dont see a big problem with that, it dusnt scream RICE at me. also i cant STAND the MUSTANG or FORD RACING windshield stripes, now thats RICE.

The term "Ricer" comes from "Rice Burner", which was started years ago to describe a Japanese car or one imported from Asian countries.

"Rice Burner" means the car runs on rice for fuel, that it "burns rice" and is therefore a "Rice Burner".

In recent years "Ricer" has been used more to describe a car which has had cosmetic mods done to make it look like a fast performance car, but with little or no functional mods.

Really rice is more of an attitude them mods IMO, the kids who have slow cars but swear they are faster then everything. If met guys with totally clean, beautiful cars who acted like a-holes and i'd classify as ricers, as well as the opposite, people with tacky, ugly cars to me who were very cool.

ok so this is my plan, i have an 06 vista blue coupe with black leather interior, white racing stripes, white rocker panel stripes, hood pins, shorty antenna, prob white rims, prob the either roush or cervini window lavours and side scoops, and im tryin to do a custome exhaust that would be a cetner pipe out the back, porshe style...thats exterior, do the engine, C&L intake and tune, plenum cover, jba power cables, engine dress up kits(hoses) chrome caps for everything...that soudns like its about it, o and im paint the brake calipers vista blue, and the last thing i might do, is get white undercar lights....i just think that would excentuate the rest of the car....would all that be ricey by ur standards? because i know that the car people i talk to, think that would look crazy...

the undercarrige lights push it, the other stuff is ok. its harder to turn a mustang into a ricer, than say a civic. just because of its definition.
