Default power Numbers

as many of us know the car comes stock with 210 HP. thats a serious number when you consider that our 4.0 has more power then some of teh older v8's. i outta know because a 94ish mustang GT is on my kill list. anyway, the one thing that i still dont get is what is teh HP to the ground? most everybody knows that the power is measured from teh factory at the flywheel and is not an accurate number at the wheels. also i was wondering what the drivetrain loss is on a rear wheel drive. in a front it was an average of like 12 percent or so but for RWD its a little more. more distance for the power to travel and what not. im asking cuz next paycheck if all goes well i wanna dyno the car before my intake and then after the intake. my butt dyno says its better but i wanna have numbers to go along with it. thanks

You have around 170RWHP with a 15% drivetrain loss... If it's an auto your numbers would actually be worse....

Manuals have about 185 hp at the wheels. Autos have even less. Probably around 165 to 170. This is all stock of course.

i have a 5 speed. the only performance mods i have currenty is the S&B intake and a magnaflow muff. i doubt the muff did anything for performance but at least she sounds mean and actually thats why i got her. stock exhaust never cut it for me.

Fazm... that is sweet! The only GT I've seen at the track so far was running 13.9-14.0's... pretty sure he was a manual... nice guy though.

when you guys ran the rides stock, what numbers where you posting? perhaps its cuz i have never raced a rear wheel drive so my launches suck but the car is consitently running 15's. i think even with the crappiest launch i ran a high 15. best was a 15.4 or 15.3. like i said, its a 5 speed but is there anything that might be keeping me from breaking into the 14's? is it even possiblt to hit 14's in the car? i have yet to lower the rear tire pressure. i wanna lower her for a few runs and see if that gives me a faster 1/4 time. also, i rev the car till shes bouncing off 3500 RPM. is this the sweet spot for a launch or should i try to get her more along the lines of 2500?

185 is like a 12% drivetrain loss...great numbers, but most 5 speeds will dyno mid-high 170s. Autos 165-170 as you said.

210-15%(30.5)-179-5 sp

210-20%(42)-168-auto

rough estimates, but most stock dynos are around these numbers.

you cant drop the clutch at all on the stock tires, or even with the gt takeoff tires. Those will only yield 2.2 or 2.3 60' In order to have a chance to run a 14.99 you are going to have to pull off a 2.000 60'. My best 60' on street tires was 2.017. my best 100% stock run was 15.26. So at sealevel, and with a slightly better driver, a 14.99 is possible im sure (15.26 is a 15.06 at sealevel for 1243 feet). But with a tuner alone, 14s are possible, as ive done it even at my altitude (14.91 on a canned tune).

so im not really doing TOO much wrong then?! i am having lock up issues with the stock tires. dont worry, i plan on geting myself 18s and hopefully the tires they will come with will have a better grip of the road then the stockers do. what about the launch at 3500? should i have her bouncing around up that high or is that possibly part of the problem? if it is i woud like to know how i could get a fraction better time by correcting it.
