Default Best Wax....

OK, at the risk of incurring everybodies wrath, I ask, what is the best wax? I DID use the search function, found too many different answers. Perhaps my requirements would steer me in a given direction...

1. My car is not an everyday driver. It will get 3000-4000 miles a year. It won't be sitting in the sun all day.
2. When it's not being used, it's in the garage. Always.
3. I wash it a lot. Every 3-4 trips, it gets a wash. I will continue this, I hate a dirty car.
4. If I have to, I would rather spend a lot of time with a traditional tough-to-apply-and-wipe-off-wax and do it once every 8-10 months, rather than an easy to use wax that rinses off the first time I wash the car. In the good old days, I used Classic wax and tons of elbow grease.
5. I don't have a buffer, but I will buy one if this is the way to do it right. Ideas on a good buffer?

With this in mind, what is your waxing recommendation?

first of: any auto parts store will have a buffer i suggest buying one. not only as a time saver but it does a better job.

secondly: you dont need to wax the convertible top. lol

third: i have tried zymol it was rated no. 1 it is long lasting and has a good shine. i also tried ice by turtle wax. the shine is absolutly amazing! but its only been on the car for about 5 days so ill have to see how long it lasts.

if you're looking for something that lasts use

Meguiar's #21 synthetic sealant

It is a last step product, but a lot of home users still top it with NXT.

My buddy told me about a place called Poorboy's World thats got great car care supplies. The website isn't flashy, the product packaging isn't flashy, but man do they make your car shine. When I do my car, I start by washing. Then if I'm feeling industrious, I give the car a once over with the clay bar. Then I use their Easy On/Easy Off Polish (although they call it a Polish, its non-abrasive.) Then I use their EZ sealant. The sealant really does it, I think. You put a layer on the entire car and let it sit for 30-60 minutes, then just wipe it off, no buffing required. Let me tell you, the shine will blind you! For a little added protection, I like to apply a coat of paste wax. They make one, but I haven't tried it yet. I used the Turtle Wax Platinum Ultra High Gloss Paste Wax. It takes time, but its well worth it!

As for the Turtle Wax Ice, I have also tried it. I agree with Harry_F, the shine is amazing, but I have a feeling that it doesn't stay on to well during rain (or at least not as well as they claim.)

Waxing is a funny thing, because if you look at all these responses, there are so many different choices. I have no doubt that Meguiar's and Zaino are amazing, but I've gotten hooked on Poorboy's World. Its all a matter of personal preference. As long as it makes your Pony happy, go with it!

+1 to both the shine, and it being on the car for 5 days! The shine is absolutely unbelievable. It's not a regular wax, however, but more of a "booster," so I'm not sure if it has a long effectiveness. I plan on using it with each wash, except maybe when I actually wax it. For wax, I've been using Meguiar's NXT. Rain-X for the windows.
