Default Header questions

What are the advantages and disadvantages of shorty headers vs. long-tube headers? Is there a performance difference?

Multiple shops have told me shorties are not worth it and the gain is minimal. However, Hamidlt said its given him more response, so they may modify the TQ curve. No one has dyno'd a before and after for shorties or long tubes on our cars. Traditionally speaking, LT's are were the significant gains are for headers.

On the flip side, both will make your exhaust sound bad ***. I have heard both st adn lt on V6's with duals, loud and mean!!!

Don't know about LT but with my shorties I can feel the power. So obviously they do add some power.

I'm pretty sure they provide a better curve, but as far as power is concerned, we havent seen dynos yet. So I won't buy the gains till I see the dyno sheets, but if they help the curve then they are definitely worth it.

One of these days I'll get to a dyno and see what she puts down. Then we will know for certain.

hes talkin bout a before and after dyno, with no other mods, preferably on the same day. I can only say that before my headers, and after my headers, north of 5k rpms, its a new beast. but not very much time is spent there.

I talked to my brother tonight (who used to work for Ford and had a 93 LX notchback that ran a 9.36 1/4 mile), and he told me that shortys will give more midrange, and long tubes give more top end. Just his $.02

Also with Long tubes, you're pretty much certain to fail emissions.
Shorties will make your car look better on the engine bay, esp if they're Polished and not Ceramic.

Do they make Equal Length for 4.0's? I know they have them for 4.6, Bassani and like one other company.
