Default RP Oil

I was reading the post from someone about doing a tranny flush and putting Royal Purple in their tranny, how does a flush work? Does it really take that much fluid? I think I read a post from someone who did this and noticed some gains with RP tranny fluid and oil.

I read that if you replace your Oil, Trans Fluid and Rear Diff fluid with Royal Purple it can add up to 6 rwhp....not sure if that is true but I will see

yes, I changed to RP last weekend and manual trasmission fluid as well. My car accelerates better at lower RPM range and fuel economy is up a bit (1mpg)

Sorry, I dont have auto. Don't think it will make a big difference in Auto. Not worth the price. Just my 2c. On Manual its less than 3 qts.

you dont need 18 quarts...

My ford dealer ship has this machine that hooks up and drains the existing fluid and replaces it with the new fluid...think, your transmission can only hold 5 quarts...if you use 18 in the end you are going to waste 13 quarts...

BTW make sure if you have a Manual Transmission they charge you accordingly...some lube shops or dealerships will just charge you the auto trans cost and thats a rip off..

Auto Trans Flush (Labour) About $99.00 here

Manual Trans Flush (Labour) About $40.00 here

Dont get ripped off

cant flush a manual trans, only drain and fill

Also doing the 5r55 trans in the new mustang requires a special filling tool. Cars dont have a dipstick like normal cars. Normally you would tap into the trans cooler lines with a machine and flush the old stuff out while pushin in the new fluid and check the trans level after with the dipstick. Little different than that now.

Oh and the transmission holds 11.9 quarts (includes lines and cooler). So i would recommend at LEAST 13-14 quarts on a flush.

$40 labor for a manual? thats pretty sad.

At my shop its $30 (parts and labor) for a gl-5 fluid service on a manual trans car. and $89.99 (parts and labor) for a complete auto trans flush.
