Like Afixer said......

A) to stop potential peeling just smooth and clean the exposed unpainted bottom and paint with touch-up paint..... once bonded it will NOT peel off.
B) Cutting or not cutting is a matter of choice..... But a set of say....JBA's will not fit without a notch.....

Yeah the body shop just didn't want to get involved, I'm a painter in a shop and i'll tell u now the paint isn't going to peel off after you cut it. However i did buy a GT bumper for mine because i didn't want to cut up my stocker lol.

Well street scene make an additional peace for the V6 bumper, u have to notch the existing bumper but it covers it and makes it look like a GT bumper with dual outlets WITH a custom rear vallence, go check on ebay, search streetscene mustang v6

Ok, so I just notched mine out a few hours ago and I have the cut out right here. I bend it as tight as I can, and then bend it the opposite direction in the exact same spot. I can see some very fine stress fractures in the paint but I see the same thing on the unpainted side. This paint is very flexable and the bond is impecable. I think there would have to be some sort of chemical introduced to take the paint off. I don't see how it could peal on it's own. It's not a $29.95 paint job! I beleive it to be fine paint and I'm sure that it was applied under the best possible atmospheric conditions. But then again, I like to yodle at dusk.

My bumper was notched as well. I can't even tell one side from the other. The only thing that I know takes the paint off is extreme heat as the muffler shop gave me scar on my first muffler with the torch.

Quick cosmo tip: Get door edge trim molding and wrap it around the curve of your cutouts for added protection and effect!
