Default Roush hood install

Anyone out there just used the tape to put on the Roush scoop? I am still not wanting to drill the holes but too cheap to pay what my local shop wants for the install. I do a lot of Turnpike driving so I am a little spooked about it.

I dont believe the tape strips would hold if you ever went faster than 25mph, too thin, bite your lip, have a drink and turn on the drill, LOL I stared at my hood almost 2 hours before drilling, the hood is very thin and very soft metal, drills very easy, good luck

I dont have the Roush hood scoop but have my 3D carbon scoop on with just 3M tape (1/2" wide) & it doesnt budge even after 100 MPH. Its lower profile but alot heavier than the Roush so im not sure if that makes a difference.

Whether it will hold onto the car without the bolts may not be the question. Will it lay down flush with the hood is probably more important. Lay your template down correctly and drill your holes. with a new bit it will take less than five minutes to drill all seven holes. Once the scoop is on you'll forget all about the holes! The thorn in my side was getting the inner insulation off the hood, but a screwdriver and a pair of sidecuts worked well.

You could buy a Saleen take off hood for $399.00 and bolt the scoop on. As long as you keep the scoop on when you sell the car I don't see what the big deal is abot drilling the holes. If it comes off on the highway how much will it cost to repaint the top of the car and whatever else it hits before it hits the guy's windshield behind you?

I don't think that 2 bolts are gonna spread the clamping force down the length of the scoop. It'll make the scoop look bowed.

Absolutely! They give you template with the scoop as well as instructions. The template locates the holes off of your windhield washer nozzles. Just tape the paper template down and in 5 minutes they're done. The metal on the hood is incredibly thin.
