Drifting is "controlled" oversteer so the car goes sideways through the curves. It's very cool to watch, very difficult to do well, and very dangerous.
If it interests you, there is a mustang featured in the upcoming "Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift". Google it and watch the trailer online, there's going to be some insane stunt driving in that movie (and some very tackily decorated awesome cars, new skyline, lotus, mustang, etc, you'll be happy to know the mustang simply sports racing stripes, it might very well be a shelby of some sort.)

There's an article in this month's Hot Rod magazine about the cars used in that movie. They used three '67 Mustangs for the movie. One with a ricer engine called for in the script. Blasphemy!
