Recalibrate the Spedo w/ new wheels?
So I was at my bowlling leauge night telling a buddy of my how i just bought those take-off saleen tires. He then mentioned to me that he thinks it may mess up my spedometer and odometer and i'd need to re-calibrate them because I had 16" and now i am putting on 17". Is this true?

The tire size will affect the speedo, I believe. You can get a tuner and reprogram it to make it run right. And dude, what the hell is that picture?

On that note, I would like to get a tuner but I am compeltely afraid of it. Is there any beginners guide on a site anyone knows about? I mean i dont even understand what it means when they say they have it tuned to like 87 93 or w/e i am completely lost. Any info would be apprecaited :-)

Look for Tuners for Mustang online, and maybe find someone around your town that tunes cars. Hell, there is people around on this site that can explain it better than me. Good luck!

If you have the stock 16 inch rims with 215/65/r16 tires they are almost exactly 27 inches in diameter (685.9 mm).
The Saleen take offs are 17 inch rims and 235/55/r17 tires are just over 27 inches in diameter(689.80 mm)
They are so close that speedo calibration should not be an issue.....
and after mine get delivered (Wednesday I hope) I can give you a first hand opinion !!!!

I have the 17" saleen take offs on my car. I replaced the 16" rims and tires. The 16" tires are a taller profile on the sidewall than the 17" tires. The overall height of the 16" tires is actually almost exactly the same overall height as the 17" tires. The 17" rims are of course bigger, but have a smaller sidewall on the tires. Know what i mean? The spedometer will not need a re-calibration. I even checked mine by following behind my wife in her new Ford Escape and the speedometers were dead on the same. Ordinarily, your friend would be correct. Changing tire size usually does require re-calibration, but not in this case due to the overall height of the tires being the same.
