V6 Transmission problem?
I bought a used 2005 V6 automatic Mustang about a month ago with 18,000 miles on it. Soon after I purchased the car I noticed that when I would take off from a stop the car would hesitate and then lurch forward. Today I started the car, put it into reverse, let off the brake and nothing happened. So, I put it back in park and then back into reverse. I gave it a little gas and it hesitated and then lurched back. Now almost every time I take off from a stop the car hesitates before lurching forward. Any thought or ideas? Should I wait until it quits before taking to the Ford dealer? It is still under warranty as the dealer is replacing the driver's side door handle because it does not return all the way in when the door is opened from the outside.

cant check the trans fluid, no dipstick. youd have to pull the plug on the bottom.
Not sure if its the TBW prob (throttle by wire) but a stock automatic has a HORRIBLE built in hesitation from a stop. Got to get an xcal2 or equivalent to get rid of it

I'd get things checked out, but it does sound like the drive-by-wire <throttle-by-wire> the Mustang and most new cars use for better fuel economy etc, stock the hesitation, or throttle lag, is really annoying. A tuner reduces it but you'll never get rid of the throttle lag or downshift lag completley.
I found this in a previous posting about throttle lag
"I heard that if you turn the key to ON and wait til all the normal lights in the dash go out, then slowly press the gas pedal until it is floored and release. Turn key off, wait about 6 seconds and then start your car. Gets rid of most if not all of the throttle lag. Give it a try. "
It appears to reset the throttle sensor in some way, and a few replies said it helped reduce the lag, might be worth a try ?
