question about oil
ok, I wasn't really sure why you wouldn't just use all synthetic myself. he's kinda cheap so maybe that's why he mixes. I suppose he'd be the one to ask.
also didn't know it came from the factory with synthetic in it. that owner's manual would come in pretty handy at times like these

When I bought my Stang in February I asked a mechanic at the dealership he said synth blend. Also in your manual its says that under the "oil" section somewhere I swear I saw that where it says 5w-30 in a paragraph somewhere.

it says to use 5w-30 right where you put the oil in...but i dont think you can use one weight no matter what the temp is. Im using 10w40 right now and for the most part it is above 80 here. BTW, those who have put the royal purple in by themselves, is it purple? Cause i just checked my oil and it is a lith brownish color. Its been about 200-300 miles since i had it changed. Just making sure i didnt get ripped off.
It tells you right on their website that it turns brown after you put it in and it comes up to full temp. Did you not change it yourself...I have 5 litres in my trunk and a K&N filter waiting for someone to do it, I dont have the tools here in Kansas to change my own oil and I am afraid of getting ripped off too LOL
I just did my first oil change this past Sunday. At 3500 miles, wanted to do it sooner but never got the time. I used Mobil 1 and a K & N oil filter. Bought a oil pan from K- Mart for 2 dollars. Jacked up the car on the passenger side with a friends hydraulic jack he bought for $20. The most expensive items are the oil and the oil filter. We compared the K & N oil filter to a motrocraft oil filter that my friend had laying around. Big difference when you look at the insides.
Nothing special about Royal Purple. I think its just because its a catchy name. BUT if you do your research on the Web independant testing has shown Amsoil to be way better. Their Filters are the best bar none, and after a transmission guy I've known over 20 years told me about Amsoil products I did plenty of reading and asking around. I've done my own oil changes for 30 years now. The Stang CAME with a synthetic blend. Thats what you use until you go full synth but not full synth before break-in 5-10K miles.
