Is it okay to do upgrades (Mods) to your car when it's still new? I have less than 500 miles on my car so do I wait, or can I start to bankrupt myself???

I put on my exhaust before 300 miles. You should wait until after the "proper" engine break in period before “modding†it, or doing any hard acceleration. I'm pretty sure it is 500 miles.

I dont see why you couldn't buy the parts and put them on after 500 miles. What do you plan on doing?

Asthetic mods are fair game right off the lot. Performance mods depends. Rear sway bar has no bearing on the engines break-in. Wheels and suspension can increase performance and you dont have to wait for those either.

Now if your talking intakes, exhaust, gearing, & synthetic fluids, wait for the engine to break in.

This may all be common sense, but your question was wide open and I didn't want to assume what kind of mods you were talking about.

I plan on putting on a ford racing muffler (already have it), and a K&N drop-in filter for now. After that I'm not sure. I have read on this forum where it seems that a cai/tuner combo seem to be popular mods with most people. It does look like an easy way to improve on the power of the car. Being from Michigan and not far away from alternative auto, I have also thought about checking them out. It's going to be some fun decision making!!!
