what happens when you put two different octanes of gass in a tank
do they mix and make a differnet octane
or do they not mix and you have little bursts of both through your injectors

Default RE: octane ratings

They should mix and unless you have made a tuner mod, you don't need any more then 87 octane for the V-6 to run just fine. Any more octane is just wasting your money, you won't benefit from the higher octane because the car is programmed from the factory to run on 87.

If your area of the country is running 10% ethanol blend, you are probably getting a bit higher octane anyway, but less mileage. The alcohol based fuels don't give as many miles per gallon as a petroleum based fuel.

The race car in my AVATAR is a sprint car, 410 cubic inches/ 850+ HP. They run on alcohol and get about TWO LAPS on a half mile dirt track to ONE gallon of fuel.
