CAI and sound quality

<newbie modder questions>
Thanks for putting up an image of the C&L intake. Is this hard to install? How did you go about tuning your engine for this? For some stupid reason, I always thought that a CAI somehow "scooped" air, either from a hood scoop or from down below under the bumper, but I see that the intake is right where the stock intake would be.

RE: CAI and sound quality
i think the baffles around the filter are meant to seal off the intake from the hot engine... not sure if the C&L would be considered a true CAI though....??
it's very easy to install and should only take about 10 minutes, give or take.
you plug the tuner into the port below and to the left of the steering wheel. this process takes about a minute.

No, it is a short ram intake, though the huge maf tube sucks up a lot more air. It is about as far from the engine as possible while still being under the hood. As far as sound, the intake makes the tone of your mufflers, in my experience, much deeper. You loose the rasp and it only gets better as te mufflers get broken in.
BTW Ken, I think your car is sinking, so that might be your most pressing concern.

Try an AFE Cai or some other that does not require a tune, that way you won't have to worry about your warranty and you'll still get the advantage of more air flow. You won't notice much of a change in the exhaust note in my experience.
