Also. Looking at my new book of mustangs I see the tires on the late 60s early 70s models were huge. But now everyone prefers the lower to the ground ones. Is there a reason for that?
they are made smaller to look better and increase performance by loweing the center of gravity making your car handle better and be less likely to roll over

And finally a stupid question. Is our engine considered a big block or a small block? Why? And do you guys think in your opinions that Ford Motor Company knows that many owners plan on tuning their tuned down engines?
our engine is a small block.
and ill bet ford knew we were all gonna wanna tune it. cause it laggs so damn bad

Also onefast I read that our hood has a place STAMPED where you can cut it out for the hood. WHy would they do these things if they did not think we would mod our cars? Its weird

There are also a lot of guys out there that get a larger rear end intalled with the gears, T-LOK, and LSD. Usually it's an 8 inch or a 9 inch. I believe it's because they're engines are putting out a lot of power and the the larger rear end can handle it better than the 7 inch (which is what we have). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong or elaborate if I'm going in the right direction and haven't hit the finer points.

We have a 7.5 rear end, which with a good LSD and girdle should hold up fine. With an auto, it absorbs most of the impact to the rear end as well so autos worry less.

As for headers, our stock manifolds flow really well, NA headers do not really do much for our cars, and are more for sound. However, I am curious to see how headers affect the curve based on Hamidlmts butt dyno. Headers are yet to be tested on FI cars to see what the gains are.

As for Ford thinking we would mod our cars, I'm sure they have. But having a friend that works at Ford, and worked on the marketing campaign for the new S197, I can tell you they went with the 4.0L cause it was a upgrade from the stock 3.8/9L and it was a known quanity. I.E. it is regression tested in the Ranger and Explorer's.
