Default Trunk badge removal?

I am getting ready to stripe my Stang, and the guy doing the work said he wants to take the trunk badge off so he can put the vinyl underneath rather than try to cut a perfect circle. I decided to go with one solid wide stripe with pin stripes on each side. It isn't scheduled until the first weekend in August (because I have to be away for a couple of days so it might as well sit at his shop getting striped as at home or the airport parking lot).
How do you remove -- and then replace -- the badge without destroying it?

I'm pretty sure it's only held on with 2-sided mounting tape.

When you open your trunk you see a black plastic piece where the little pull to escape the trunkt hing is. You have to pull very hard trust me it seems like it wont come off but it will come off. Beneath that there is to lock type plastic things leading from the badge. you have to unock that. After that it is held on by mounting tape some use glue remover but can damage ppaint. I used a box cutter lifted the edges and then ran a string behind it. Then i pused it out from the back

So it can be taken off, and then it sounds like there are holes that it will go back through to hold it on after the striping is done -- correct?
