Default Odometer question

I remember back in the 80's when I was just a kid, I had to explain to my Dad how to tape something with the VCR, which he could never figure out. Well, now I need someone to explain how to work the g*ddamn odometer.

I've been using the trip meter to keep track of my mileage. Each time I fuel up, I push and hold the odometer button to reset it to zero. However, after some driving, the trip meter resets to zero again all by itself! I notice this the next time I start the car. So either I'm missing something that's painfully simple (and you're all rolling your eyes), or it's warranty time.

That's happened to me a couple of times. I think it resets if you have a low amount of miles when you park it. I go to fill it up and only live a couple of miles from the gas station. I go to drive the car the next day and it's back to zero. I guess I just live with it. I still think the mpg mode is very accurate.

That's it! That's what's happening. If I make a short trip after a manual reset, it auto-resets. I travelled about 3-4 miles prior to these occasions.

Thank you.

Odd... I've never had my trip meter reset itself. I mostly use it to track my mileage between tanks.

Weird. It sounds possesed. Have you ever seen the Steven King movie, I think it was called "Carrie"? [sm=noooo.gif]

I seriously doubt it's telekinesis that is causing the reset. I'll call the dealership and see what they say. If it's a defect I'm sure the repair involves ripping out half the interior of the car.
