unless you have or plan to get a supercharger or turbo, I'd think you'd want to step it up to at least 3.73's if you're going to pay for a new gear ratio. also depends on your driving habits. with a shorter gear ratio, you'll lose mpg on the highway, but might actually get slightly better mpg in city driving. 3.55's probably wouldn't be all that noticible for performance or gas mileage if your car is otherwise basically stock

any shorter gear ratio will allow you to run through your rpm's and therefore gears (transmission) faster. So yeah, you'll get better acceleration. I'm just saying that if you're paying $200 for gears and another $300 to have them installed, you might as well step it up a notch to 3.73's or 4.10's. The 3.55's would be great for a FI setup though.

edit: out of curiosity, where have you found 3.55's for a Ford 7.5" rearend??

The closest I've seen for a 7.5inch 3.55 is a 3.45

He could be planning on an entire a rear end swap; Shelby Auto has the heavy duty 8.8" rear end that houses a 3.55:1 gear ratio for $1199.00

A guy a local mustang performance shop said he could get me 3.55's (actually reccomended them over 3.73's and said i would definitly feel the difference). My question is: would 3.73's be too much for a FI setup in your minds?
