Default Average MPG

What kind of mileage do you get in your V6 Mustang? My Tungsten Grey, V6 Premium Coupe with Auto, Pony Package and IUP shows average mpg of 17.2. That doesn't sound that good to me. It only has 425 miles on it. Will the mileage improve after I get some more miles on it? I have a fully optioned 2000 Corvette convertible with manual 6 speed that shows an average of 27 mpg. It has a 340 hp 350 engine. My 2006 Pontiac G6 2 door coupe with a V6 got 31 mpg on a recent trip to Asheville NC. The only vehicle of mine that gets less mpg than the Mustang is my wife's 2000 Dodge Durango which is a 318 ci V8.

I stand corrected as my wife says that her Durango actually gets closer to 20 mpg. She doesn't have a computer in the Durango but manually keeps track of the mileage and swears she gets better than the Mustang's 17.2 mpg.

Psssssssssh, I get 15mpg in the city if I take it easy on the pedal and roll to all the lights. Stupid So Cal, there's practically a light every half-mile, all of the stop-and-go's a killer. Like 25mpg on the freeway though.

Im also in Los Angeles. I think the city driving here is as "City" as it gets. I get 18mpg regularly, 19mpg if I try to maximize with lots of shifts, no downshifting, lots of idling and putting in 5th whenever physically possible, then I realize its not worth all the effort and drive like a maniac and get 18mpg. On a long road trip to SF, I got more like 24-25mpg. I dont get how people claim to get 24 mpg in the city, what city are they driving in, Kansas?

If you to have some fun, add the average MPG info to the display and watch how it changes as you go through different driving situaions. My 2005 V6 automatic is getting 24-25 mpg average city and highway and it has 5k miles on it. On flat country roads where I drive at 45 mph it gets 28-30 mpg.
