numbers wise no way but people who own that car have trouble driving it . i never drove one but i hear they are diffucult to get good at them. alot of peopel who have it when they floor it off the line they bucking bronco for afew feet then take off. but if thye can drive good not a chance stock for stock

I'm not sure what kind of quarter mile times that AT RX8 would get, but it has less HP than the 6-speed. The automatic has 212 hp vs the manual's 232.

At Edmonds (http://www.edmunds.com/new/research/mazda/rx8.html) they were able to get 15.4 s quarter mile out of the 6-speed RX8.

You have him on torque, which means a short race favors you. RX8 will still have a little bit on the HP and the weight. Question is, how effective is the AT transmission of the RX8 vs Mustang's AT.

You'll take an auto RX-8...from a dig anyway, rotary engines produce zero torque, the RX-8 is like 130 something, top end though he may get you, they have six gears to our five. Overall though an auto RX-8 is maybe a high 15-low 16 car at best. You'd prolly take a manual as well, just not by as much.

Mazda has had a hard time with the RX-8 since the cars launch, first they overrated it big time, got sued for it, and had to take back a ton of cars. Also, since the performance has been shown to be lacking <compared to the RX-7 especially> the car was never embraced by the import tuner community, and since its expensive for what it is, a gas guzzler and rotary engines aren't know for reliability, its passed over quickly by many average car buyers. Too bad too as the design isn't bad.

Wait, actually what year RX-8? Up to 05 or 06 the autos were just 190chp and had 5-speed trannies.

The RX8 engine’s drawbacks are lack of low-speed torque and the fact that it gets pretty thirsty if you get frisky with the throttle.
