Just hold the brake and press down the gas it will rev up but not move anywhere then just release the brake and there you go

You are in fact putting power to your brake disks and asking them to hold it all untill release.

It'll warp your brake disks if anything...

Its not a matter of how far you recommend revving the engine, it is a matter of how high you can rev before the stall converter locks and your tires can no longer stay still. Stock, our V6 auto has a stall speed of probably between 1700 and 2000 rpm. The reason for the disparity is because the weight of your particular car and the condition of your brakes also determine when the tires will break loose. So the short answer is - if you are running a stock torque converter - put the car in gear, press firmly on the brakes, rev the engine to within 500 to 750 rpm below your cars stall speed (this will keep you tires still while bringing your engine to as much torque as can be attained at 1700 - 2000 rpm); then when the light turns green ..... release the brakes and launch as hard as you can. That's just IMO but I know there's folks out there who can give you other, maybe better, advice.

Oh, yeah, I forgot you should turn your O/D off.

im pretty sure the lockup on the TC for the autos is about 2400rpm, maybe even 2500rpm, not 1700-2000

afixer, those are such bad-*** vids. I live in Buena Park and someday I'll get out enough to get a ride at the track.

fazm, thanks for the info. I never tried it in my car so its good to know I can get up there if I EVER need to.
