Default What's a safe RPM range for cruise?

The car seems to sound happiest between 2200 and 2500 RPM for level cruise. Is it OK on the engine to cruise at 1800 or even lower? If so, I'll gear up to 5th more often to save gas.

I usually cruise around 1800 seems ok to me if you read the manual it gives you shift points so you can get the most gas mileage of course cruising at that low rpm you will have no acceleration.

When cruising I usually shift at 2000 RPM to save gas. I usually stay in the 1300-2000 range.

dont cruise below 1300, its about as low as i would recommend, and at that point, downshift to accelerate.

Interesting topic, here’s something else… I find closer to 3000 rpm the car shifts a little smother, easier. Although this shift point is totally exceptional at cursing speed around town it seams like the revs are a little high. I usually shift just a little under. Anything under this and I find you have to be pretty precise for the smooth shifts. What do you all think?

yep, at light/part throttle our automatics are upshift happy.... I've personalized mine for my driving style... I don't come out of 1st gear at light/part throttle until 18 MPH! LOL!

Did you do that with your Xcal? Do you have to set the mph for each gear when it will shift, or is there an option to have it shift more aggressively?

If you can get the .xtr file from your tuner you can use X-treme Tune to change the shift schedule... Basically it's a graph of throttle position vs MPH for the shift...
