Poppin Trunk! (problem)
Yeah so uh I've had this problem for a little while just wanted to ask
if anyone else has it....Sometimes when I go to pop the trunk with my
alarm/lock key thing, it just makes a click but doesn't pop for me to open
and I have to push down to get it to pop up. [:@] I also get water trapped in the
emblem on the trunk so when I do get my trunk open it poors everywhere....
Any feedback would be awesome.

There was a thread about how the trunk operates.. mines is an 06' and I need to lift up the trunk... i think it was only for the earlier 05's... cuz they had all the goodies first... like remote power down windows! so it makes me think, that this is one of the things they decided to do away with... your not alone...
I used to have to just double click the trunk to get it to pop but i took it to the dealership and got it fixed the trunk latch was messed on. The 06's dont have the auto window up and down? Well thats a rip off lol its so much easier with that feature.
Try this. Spray a little WD-40 or even better a silocone lubricant on the lock mechanism. Mine did the same thing but the lube loosened it up and it worked properly afterwards.
my problem is that i keep accidentally hitting the trunk release on my key fob with my fat thumbs when unlocking the car, and don't realize it until i start to drive and the computer yells at me. Not as embarassing as when I hit the "help i'm getting raped button", though.
If I had a trunk release inside the car I could just tape over both those buttons, but I guess that's a really expensive stock option reserved for high-end luxury cars like my 2001 mitsubishi mirage es.

It's just that you have to already be in the trunk to use it [8D]
Thanks everyone I think I'll try the silicone lubricant. Oh and
I do believe accidently popping the trunk than unlocking the car
is a lot less embarassing than hitting "Help I'm getting raped button!"
If I was to be stuffed in a trunk I would love to be stuffed in the stang trunk
just to laugh at the little man running away from the car!!! Thanks for all the info
if the lube doesn't work I'll take it to the dealership and say hey damnit fix it!

petepete... yeah I know, a momentary switch would cost all of 1.29 retail at radio shack, and bought by the bulk they're about 12 cents a piece for a "high quality" one. That's why it's so unbelievably lame that ford wouldn't stick one in the glovebox of my vert. Maybe it's because they know the lock on the glovebox is a joke, and you could probably pry it open with your fingers, and I should add that to my list of stuff ford cheaped out on.
For that matter, why no valet key? (Another advanced feature my piece of crap beater mushi car has). A key that starts the car but won't open the trunk. When the wife and I go downtown we've often parked in a valet garage, and she's left her purse in the trunk, but I guess not in the mustang.
Oh well no more thread hijacking. It's just that stuff like that reminds me that more than 1/2 of the price of the car really goes to the unions various pension and health plans, and not the car itself.
