Default BIG payoff at the track!!!

No peeking at the time slip......... I went to the track again last night shooting for 14.7's, passing up a relaxing evening cleaning horse stalls and feeding the chickens, a fair trade I think. I had taken the time to change my fuel filter and spark plugs in between lawn mower repairs, plus I went for some weight savings by switching my street scene fascia for the stock one. I also put the stock front wheels on, saving 24 lbs. Now my car looks more like the ones I owned in high school, except no sprayed on primer or roach clips hanging from the rear view mirror. ( the last comment was for adults only, if you are not an adult click here) I filled the fronts to 50psi so they would sound like bouncing ***** over every pavement imperfection and lowered the rears to 30 for that un-setteling squirming effect around corners. I had the SCT2 loaded in and a cool car for the first run, which netted me a 15.0, the best it's ever run with the SCT2, I tried again with this setup and ran a 15.2, time for that boat anchor SCT2 tuner to take a trip to the circular file. I loaded in the microtuner after a cool off (both me and the car-if I had my shot gun I of been skeet shooting the sct2) and ran a tire spinning 14.9089@91.28, went straight back to the line and ran a 14.8248@91.86. After this I knew the 14.7's were close, I parked my car, and went to get a $2 pepsi, the pepsi was even cold!, checked out the group of 5 new GT mustangs, the best of which was running 14.7's-a black auto vert- and hung with the bike racer that brought a couple of babes. After getting a couple of phone numbers I went back to my car and drove to the line, up against a very trick superchanged bonneville ssei........and cranked off a 14.6289@92.25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on 87 octane gas!!, I couldn't believe it!! I thought they gave me the wrong slip or the timers were off!!. So I went back to the line and spun my way to a 14.6841@92.22!! with a hot car. After these two runs, all the Gt guys and gals came over, not believing I had a v6, and looking at me suspiciously...I have to attribute most of this improvement to the fuel filter and weigh loss, my car is now pulling much better in the top end. As a reward for this feat I bought my car some presents, LCA's, and adjustable panhard bar (my car is lowered and tracks funny) and rear weld prostar wheels for some drag radials..I think I can shave a tenth off with better 60' fimes... Next goal..14.4's.....

CONGRATS! That's great stuff. And while all the things you did to ready-up the car are all very cool ..... you never seem to give the driver any credit! What's up with that? LOL Good job!

That's great!!! I know you are happy about 14.6's.

Question - With your microtuner, can you adjust it to run on 93 octane gas? I suspect that you would get even better times with a higher tune. Great job regardless!

I'm impressed and intrigued, tell us more about this "micro tuner". Any links or specs, I also have the SCT-II and am not sure it's worth the $400 I spent. It does give a noticeable performance gain but I expected more.

The micro tuner I am talking about is the superchips max microtuner for the mustang. I think it was the first flash tuner for the mustang, it was one of the first things I bought, it cost $402 including tax. You can only swithch between 'economy' and 'hi performance' tunes ( never tried the 'economy ) you can change axel ratio, speed limiter and rev limiter settings but nothing else. On the box it says it is for 'stock' vehicles only. It will not work with the huge filter that comes with the C&L intake, I had to put the small filter from my S&B intake on so it would idle. I honestly believe the SCT2 is better if you have the correct tune. I am hoping I can buy a tune from PHP or alternative and load it into my SCT2, I know I would go faster. I don't know anyone else who is using this microtuner and I have an early production stang that ford used as a fleet vehicle so my computer may be different.

I forgot to mention that my hood scoop is functional and connects to a ram air system that seals to the filter box of the c&L. I am making this myself, its a bitch to fit it around all the components that stick up off the motor, it also requires that you remove the hood insulation. It bonds to the hood with the same tape that is used to stick body panels on. When I finally have it right and make the first one in fiberglass i'll post some pictures.

The elevation is 809 ft, it was about 74 degrees and not humid at all. Unfortunatly I don't know the exact temp/humidity. The scales wern't working either so I couldn't get an exact reading on how much less my car weighed.

Wow-o! Good fricken job. Now I have you and Fazm as the standard for a V6 Mustang that can spit out mid 14s with simple bolt ons.
