Default Why I got a V6 mustang :-) feel good

I would like to repost this one. It was my response to someone who was comparing Gt to V6

Our convertible mustangs are probably a bit slower in convertible form (160lb) so possibly 6.6sec hardtop (manual) and 6.8sec for convertible but here is the kicker. I purchased my convertible for 23.5K(new) with ABS, interior upgrade. Comparible GT was selling for 30.5K.
I spent additional $1200 for CAI, Xcal (91tune), magnaflow, Royal purple oil in crancase and transmission. I also added GT rims(takeoff), hellwing rear sway bar, front Gt bar, strut bar. I probably added 30rwh to my car and probably am running 0-60 in 6 - 6.2 sec and handle a s good as GT. Also I am averaging 30mpg while cruising at 70.

So to summarize.
25K got me a fast and economical ride that can outrun a lot of older stock Gt's. I get good fuel economy on long trips. Saved 5-6K. Saving $500-600 a year on insurance and around the same amount on fuel.

Invest the money you save by not purchasing a GT ($6000)in average Mutual fund at 10% add $1200 a year that you save from Insurance/fuel. After 5 years you should accumulate around $17000 or enough to purchase a newer Mustang :-)

The first 05+ Mustang I drove was a V6/auto. The only thing I didn't like about it was it seemed to have the worst throttle lag in the world. But once it was pulling I was very suprised at its power.

did you get your car dynod to have the extra 30 rwhp? or are you going by what they told you? and sorry but save money by buying a V-6 with power? the new edges yes, but the 3V is a better engine, and the V-6 is more of a lower preformance version then the GT. as for insurance, a GT of the same year is $130 more a year, and im in massachussets, and GTs get about the same mpg, i did drive a s197 for the first time the other day, and compared to my buddies GT with 4.10s it would of been no contest

however though i will agree V-6 vert > GT coupe, its all about having the top come off and, its got the little mustang badge on it

Haa.. I actually do view that as a downside. You can't have any backseat romance in a mustang so if you don't live near the bar or club, having one night stands becomes a big logistics problem

here in Bay Area CA, the lowest priced Insurance company quoted me $400 per year more for convertible GT over my V6. Others charge more. As far as fuel economy, it is based on my friends Convertible GT with manual transmission. He is getting mid 20's on freeway cruising at same speed since we commute in the same direction on the same freeway.

Price difference is 6-7K actually if priced like for like V6 vs GT convertibles.
I can spend $3000 and get a supercharger :-) and make more power than GT plus I am 200lb lighter.
