Default What I learned tonight...

1. My Mustang cannot beat a Camaro (not sure what year it was) or a new GTI on the highway
- the Camaro had a laptop on it and the GTI was throwing a lot of sparks
2. The speed limiter is set at 115mph, or 3300rpm in 5th
3. In my opinion, Mustangs are built for acceleration, not top end
4. I REALLY NEED A TUNER
5. 115mph is pretty f@#$*&% fast and pretty scary on a narrow winding highway (Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkway, Rt. 15 in CT, for those of you who may know what I'm talking about)

That's my rant for the night...I was definitely stupid to do what I did, but hey, it was fun and I'll save that stuff for the track in the future

I like to think it's okay to street race, anything
to get my adrenaline pumping. BUt I can't say
I would ever do 115mph on a winding hwy......that
could have turned out bad....I am not Bitching at you though
I know how it is. Yeah our cars aren't for top end, more for acceleration.
I need a tuner too so don't worry.

ya with the relatively large size of our engine for a v6 our cars are more for acceleration. And wow racing at 115 can't say that's the best idea

Did the camaro have a pointy front bumper or the cat fish looking bumper? V6? LT1? LS1? You should of had the V6 hands down...

GTI? Goooooooooooood luck beating those from a roll. They have a good amount of torque and enough to keep them going up top.

Now that I've done some research I'm pretty sure it was a 2000 Camaro SS. When I topped out at 115 he was still accelerating, as was the GTI. And trust me, it was fun for the moment to be going that fast, but I will NEVER do that again outside of a track situation.

I don't like driving the Merritt at 60mph.
Or the Hutch for that matter.

Yeah, I agree...it was one of those "thinking with my pride and not with my head" moments. I guess I wasn't on the Merritt yet, I was on the Wilbur Cross in the New Haven-Milford area, between exit 63 and 56. It starts getting a bit windy just before exit 56. I stopped at the gas station to top off my tank, gather my thoughts, yell at myself a bit (not for being beat, but for being stupid), then I drove the rest of the way to Fairfield with the cruise control on.

I grew up in Connecticut. The Merrit parkway is the Autobahn of the North East. I love flying on there especially on a nice spring day or in the fall. You'll hardly ever see a cop there. [sm=gears.gif]

lol SS no wonder..even a new Stang GT would still be a fair fight with a slightly modded SS. As for the GTI..it was definitely modded.
