RE: what speed does a governor kick in on a v6?
Whenever the family gets a new car or has a car i havent driven yet i always take it out to this closed road (safer environment) to see what top speed is....Took the '05 out 1st day and which we stated tops at 113mph, i was disappointed since my 00' mustang goes 116mph lol but it dnt matter i dnt take it above 85mph on a regular basis

You would have to upgrade driveshaft...the clips break around 120-125. Its not that likely to see a v6 mustang at 140 either way and where would you even find a safe spot to take it up that higher if you could?

I had heard that the early 2005's had their u-joints press-fitted into the driveshaft, and the design was changed to add retaining clips to keep the caps from flying out at high speed. It's not a matter of the clips breaking. I heard if you gave your car a quick look underneath and saw clips that you were OK.
Can anyone else confirm or correct???

i don't know if anyone cares but i took my garmin c330 gps unit in my buddies sixer and it said 114 mph but all of it's so close who cares? mine doesn't have a governor cause of where i bought it but if a guy has a governor kick in i don't consider it winning the race. the governor doesn't mean that guy is any less of a driver or his car isn't any faster, it just means that the manufacturer and the laws have put a restriction on that car. sort of like a handycap. he just hasn't removed it yet, thats all.
