Default Tuner/tunes comparison

I loaded in my SCT2 with the tunes from Alternative Auto last night. For those who are new, I have a Superchips max microtuner and an SCT2, which came from Brenspeed, the tunes from Brenspeed were not what I was looking for ( Brenspeed was very helpfull, I am not saying anything bad about them at all) so I sent the SCT2 to Alternative Auto to have their tunes loaded into it. On my car the microtuner is the fastest at the track, but not much on driveability, very hard shifts all the time (ok by me, but may not by the drivetrain). In comparison the brenspeed tune (C&L 87)had better than stock shifts but still slow, the Alternative tune (C&L 87) has firmer than stock shifts driving to work, good throttle response, and in a short test on wet roads, firm WOT shifts. The idle of the microtuner was rough, the brenspeed almost like stock and the Alternative tune noticably different from stock. As it has been raining here for 3 days I can't get to the track to test the power. The Alternative Auto 87 tune is very driveable, comfortable shifts at part throttle, with instant throttle response. The tunes I recieved from Alternative were 87, 89, and 93 octane. I have only used the 87, but on the next fill up I will put in 93 and try that tune. The microtuner has very limited user adjustability compared to the SCT2, so at the track I can change things on the SCT2. Next time I get to the track I am going to make my first run with the Microtuner, C&L+S&B filter combo, then switch to the SCT2 alternative 93 tune, C&L+C&L filter and see what happens. I plan on letting the car cool down for 1/2 hour between these runs. By the time I get to the track again I may have my LCA's, adj panhardbar and drag radials on, so I have to compare apples to apples.

My 'results'
IDLE
Microtuner-very rough
Brenspeed-almost stock
Alternative-slight roughness

Shifts
Microtuner-very very hard and fast all the time
Brenspeed-firmer than stock, but slow
Alternative-firm and quick at WOT, comfortable around town, no 'slipping'

quarter mile
Microtuner-14.43 (87 octane)
Brenspeed-14.9 (93 octane)
Alternative- soon to come (93 octane)

Cool that is the way to do it, look foward to seeing the results!

I'm glad those young folks are looking out for my integrity. PR 4.6 is correct, the 93 tune is from Brenspeed, the 87 and 89 are from Alternative. Alternative does not have a 93 tune, but Lidio told me to up the timing on the 89 and see what happens powerwise if I can get 93. (maybe I'll just use the Torco race fuel avaiable at the track?)

Lidio and I did the same thing with my car on the dyno... and I think Doug at Bama found the same thing... for some reason you really can get much out the automatics by advancing the timing... ???

Boss, your observations about Lidio's shifting and automatic tuning are the reason I recommend Lidio to people with automatics... I have a tune from MRT for my supercharger and while it's a great tune power-wise it's not as good as Lidio when it comes to the tranny... Eventually I'll take the Mistress over to Lidio's and have him work his tranny magic on her! LOL!!
