Okay. Who would win(same skilled drivers)

05 v6 standard with gears, tune, CAI

04 GT stock standard convertible

Has anyone tried this race. Im thinking the v-6 would hang if not beat the GT by a nose.

i dunno, the GT has a lot of power over the 6er.....we need to compare some 1/4 slips or something

GT would win.......Even though the vert weights more it still has more horsepower then us. You would need to mod your car more to even stay up with a 99-04 GT......Now a 96-98 GT you could beat with light mods since they only have about 15-20hp on us so with the right mods we can beat those GT's.

stick vs auto?
a stick v6 vs auto gt with the gt being stock and the v6 with those mods, it's a drivers race really.

Thats the slowest GT 99-04 available( auto convertible) they only dyno 215-220 to the wheels. If its 100% stock they run very low 15s or high 14s ...I say you have him covered if the race doesnt go over 100 and you are a good driver. Maybe he can catch up to you after that. Watch your start and dont waste it peeling rubber. Good Luck.

Ya forgot to take trans into it but an 04 GT auto vs stick 05 v6? That doesnt seem like itd be close a GT depending on trans runs a 14.7 and stick v6 runs like a 15.2-15.3 then maybe 15.0 with the mods. GT has 260hp at the crank and v6 210 at the crank and with the mods u got maybe 195hp...depending on how they drive the car but actual power wise i still think the GT has it.

horse power means nothing, torque wins races, 302 ft/lbs > 240 ft/lbs

weight i think they are about the same cause the s197s are a little bit heavier, 3.27 v 3.31 gears arent that much difference, even if they add 3.73s it wont be an extreme difference,

my vote GT by 1 car with equal drivers

Well technically hp does mean something because you of need horsepower to operate the car

Been there done that ..my buddys stock auto vert 02 gt runs 15.1 -14.9 at the track ....i spank him most of the times running 14.6-14.8. VMP Tuning v6 5 speed mustang ran a 14.6 with only a tune and air intake. So ..yes it is a drivers race and you have a chance to take him down . Mustang22 before you answer back take into account that i had a 96gt , still own a 2000 Gt plus the 05 v6 so i have had experience on all three cars at various levels of modification ...Iam not making up or assuming anything.

But also have to take into consideration the status of the motors for each race. Someone may have a faulty motor so you win hey theres a million reasons why its a toss up. Plus a vert is heavier then the coupe so itd be more exciting to race the coupe. But ya PR 4.6 has some good points on most of the topics he posts on so id believe alot of the stuff he posts also.
