Who has HIGH MILEAGE? Ext Warranty?
I have 33K and have had my stang 7 months. Should I purchase an extended warranty? If so, better from Dealer?
Thanks.

RE: Who has HIGH MILEAGE? Ext Warranty?
I have the extended warranty (6 years, 100,000 miles and $50 deductible) on my Mustang and my wife's Focus. We both drive 60 miles one way to work so run out of regular warranty quickly. I haven't had any problems with either car and have about 19,000 miles on both since April (although I don't plan to drive the Mustang all winter -- too many people around here forget at the first snow storm that the road gets slippery and still drive like it is a bright sunny day with all kinds of stopping distance).
I had the same warranty on my Explorer and my wife's old Focus -- and used it for both. I had to have the rear end rebuilt 2X on the Explorer and then they replaced it at 95,000 miles and it only cost me $50. My wife's old Focus also had some front end problems that were covered well after the 36,000 mile warranty expired. Plus, we get a loaner any time they have to keep the car overnight.
The $900 each was worth it (the Explorer rear ends alone paid for the extended warranty) -- and gives my wife great peace of mind on her daily commute.

I had the extended warranty on my 99, it paid for itself when I needed a transmission. and then a rearend,oh and a spindle..., Old green has had a rough life. It was 6yr/75k. On my 06 I got the 7yr/100k, I am a true believer.

Rygen is right on that. Because I have the extended warranty, and am concerned about keeping it due to the mileage I drive each year, I haven't done any performance mods even though I like the idea of a tuner for better performance.

I never bother with it. The guy at the dealership tried his hardest to sell it to me, probably cause i got such a good deal on the car but I just couldn't get it. I've had 4 previous Fords and never needed to take the cars in for anything big. Then again I never went over the waranty period before I traded it in too. The 03 Mach1 only has 22k miles and never had 1 problem with it other than squeaky brakes.
