RE: Gibson Performance Exhaust
I'm currently stock, if you don't count the wheels, but i've tried contacting them two days in a row... no answer or reply. I'll keep trying though til i get an answer. I'm patient like that! i'll tell ya how it goes.

I also find it interesting that all this R & D is done in CA, where so much of the mods aren't even street legal.

RE: Gibson Performance Exhaust
the thing is, all the companies are in California, they have to make kits that are CARB/SMOG legal due to California's strict air/emitions laws. if those kits are legal in California, then they're legal everywhere else.
case in point: JBAs header system for the V6 is 50 state legal because they had to get them legal in California first.
another one: the X-Charger with a Cali kit and a 49-State Hi-Performance kit. the Cali kit has lower emitions than the Hi-Performance kit.

RE: Gibson Performance Exhaust
Got a reply from gibson on the big single/big y-pipe subject.....
319000 Aluminized and 619000 Stainless steel is our single 2.5" muffler that is
a muffler replacement only. It is good for about 6hp and 8-10 foot pounds of
torque. The muffler has a slip on 4" inter cooled stainless steel tip supplied
as well. We found with our test that keeping the factory y-pipe on a stock
vehicle did pick up more HP in the max rpm range but did loose low end torque.
So basically by doing just the muffler we were able to pick up more usable power
in the lower rpm range rather than max rpm gains.
You guys notice their contradictions (spelling?) or is it just me?
