RE: top speed
With a tuner or chip, you can remove the limiter. I've gotten up to 120, and there was definitely room to spare...but the car didn't seem to like it very much, and I heard that the driveshaft clips may go after or at 125...basically, even if you can, DON'T DO IT!!! You never know what could happen to you or your car (I happened to be WAAAAY upstate Maine where the only forms of life around are big *** moose, so I would've been the only one hurt if something went wrong...guess that's as safe as you can play a situation like that).

RE: top speed
At 120 or so its unsafe for a continuous rate of speed considering the stock tires cant handle high speeds for a distance and the 05 and i think early 06 have the bad driveshafts so you would have to replace the drive shaft to push over 120-125 to see how high it really will go.

RE: top speed
In pure stock form with no modifications to the computers tuning the 05 and later Mustang V6s will not go 130. In a dyno test with one of my 05s the electronic speed limiter stopped the vehicle at exactly 112 MPH. With the limit removed the same vehicle did 141 on the dyno. This is, of course, with no wind resistance. On the road, with the limiter removed, 130, or even a bit more, is not out of the question for a stock V6.
The tires available on the 05 Mustang are the 16-inch P215/65R16 96T and the 17-inch P235/55ZR17 98W. The speed rating of the 16-inch tire represented by the letter T is 118 MPH while the 17 (W) is rated at 168 MPH. What this rating indicates is the maximum sustained speed the tire is capable of. Short duration runs to speeds in excess of the tires rated speed are not a problem, but cruising the autobahn at 130 for prolonged periods on the T rated tire will produce a problem eventually.
The real issue with speeds in excess of 112 is the driveshaft on the 05 and early 06 V6 Mustangs. If you intend to exceed this speed you need to update or modify your dirveshaft immediately, no question about it. In fact, if I were planning on running my car above 90 for prolonged periods I would at least add some driveshaft retaining loops. A driveshaft failure at speed is not a pretty sight.

RE: top speed
Let me ask...I got my Stang in April of this year, and the manufacture date on the sticker says March of this year. Do you think the additional driveshaft changes have been made (is my car late enough in the model year?). Just curious for my own edification...

RE: top speed
Pyrat, For the people who dont have the extra money for the upgraded driveshaft (me, especially right now) How much are the retaining clips you mentioned above and where do you get them? Also i put on my intake and exhaust with no prior experience which isnt hard in the first place lol but would this be something i could install or would i want to have someone else put them in for me?
