Does this make any sense??

Does this make any sense??
Over the weekend I lost control of the Stang on a wet road. TCS was ON! I shifted from First to second and lost it in the turn. I spun out and slammed into the center curb and fractured my rim. The tire was not damaged and the car performed fine afterwards. I thought I'd have to replace the rim of course but the dealer told me the axle was bent and needed to be replaced???!!! Wouldn't I have felt a bent axle?? Wouldn't the drive and performance suffer with that kind of damage??? I hope they're not jerking me because now I have to file a claim with my insurance because the cost of the parts alone are over $1000.!!! It doesn't make any sense!
Also, my insurance said they'll take care of everything and the parts and the work will be guaranteed for as long as I own it. The dealership only covers that for 1 year or 12,000 miles...I'm not too sure where I should get this repaired because the car is brand new. 4000 miles! I heard it's best to take it to the dealership when the cars are this new but the parts aren't guaranteed...
Please Advise!

go to another repair shop/dealer and let them check it out. I would think you would feel a wobble or vibration, maybe even some rear end fluid leaking out from the seal at the end of the axle.

There's no fluid leaking and the dealer said he can't turn the wheel at all? It all makes no sense... I was going maybe 25 -30 when I made this turn. the car spun, I tried to correct it, I slammed into the curb....I drove on it fine everything seemed fine except for the rim being cracked. I sit at a light, I let off the brake the car rolls... just like it always has! No vibration nothing...
Basically I wanted to know if I'm crazy or not?? I just think that if I had severe damage to my axle or rotors or anything I'd know! I'd feel it! I just found out too that when I lowered my deductible I only lowered Comp. coverage not Collision! I'm screwed dude! 4023 miles and I already need to spend over a grand to fix...

Get a second opinion. I'm sure you would notice a bent axle. The entire rear end would be just under $1500 for parts and I can't believe you would have to replace the entire rear end. The axle shafts themselves are under $150 and then about $50 for bearings and bearing seals.

definetly get a second opinion. You would have noticed a bend. Take it to a performance shop and tell them you think a dealer might have tried to dick you over or take it to some gas station auto shop or something.

Thanks for all the help...I knew I wasn't crazy...you would have to feel a bent axle...I didn't know the parts were so cheap! Ford told me just for the axle shafts it was going to be $800. Plus another $200 for the seals and bearings...That's not counting a rim replacement either which is about $200 + alignment+turning the rotor..+Labor!
The 2 reasons for this post were to see if I'm crazy and also to find out if I had to replace everything at the dealership because I heard when the car is this new it's best to take it there...Thanks For the help guys!

RE: Does this make any sense??
If they are right and the axle is bent...for that much money it better not break again! Why do they suck so much!?!?! I had a guy with his lawyer in the service center with me that is fighting for a Lemon Law with his 04 GT...he said he's put $10,000 in it and the only modd he has is CAI! I forgot to mention this but they charge you up the *** for an extended service plan but you still have to pay $50 to get the car checked??? What kind of BS is that???

RE: Does this make any sense??
Same thing happened to a friend of mine in a GT. It bent the axle housing. He ran it a week before having it replaced at JBA and cost him around $2500. JBA is not really cheap to have anything done though. He was happy after that though.
