Posi = LSD?
So does this accomplish the same purpose as gears + t-lok? I thought a posi was a LSD too, just the name Checy gave it...

RE: Posi = LSD?
POSI Is NOT an LSD!
You have no reason to get a POSI unless you spend 100% of you time at the track.
With an LSD, a tire spins a certain amount of revolutions before it is locked in.
With Posi, both tires spin at the same time, always.
Posi will cause premature drivetrain wear, and if you give it anything more than an idle in a turn, youll be drifting like the fast and the furious.
Dont get posi unless your mustang is track driven.

sorry... you're wrong about that.... Posi is short for Posi-Traction which is GM's name for a their Limited Slip Differential...
What you are thinking of is a spool!
(From Wikpedia)
Spool
A spool limits differential rotation to exactly zero. A spool consists of a pinion & ring gear only, the centre is solid, the axle is one piece. A mini-spool is similar, replacing the usual diff centre with a solid piece, retaining the factory axles. Technically a spool is not a differential at all, but is used to achieve a similar effect to an LSD on some street & race cars.

Factory Names
In the 1950's and 1960's many manufacturers began to apply brand names to their LSD units. The most famous of these was Chevrolet's "Positraction". Since then, Positraction (often shortened to "positrac" or merely "posi") has become a genericized trademark for LSDs.
Other factory names for LSD's include
Pontiac: Safe-T-Track
Ford: Equa-Lock and Trac-Lok
American Motors Corporation: Twin-Grip
Mopar: Sure Grip
Ferrari: E-Diff
Fiat: Viscodrive

haha a actually checked wikipedia too, but I wasn't sure. I mean for 160 bucks, it's a great deal. I just don't want it to be unsafe. What's your take on it?
