Default weight reduction

Everyone here knows that mustangs aren't exactly the lightest cars... i was wondering what people have done (and what people would consider doing) to lighten their vehicles. I don't mean impractical things like removing heating/AC or stripping out door panels. what do you guys think?

bmr makes good weight reudctioon products.

by the end of the week, i will have most of them installed.

i already have the bmr radiator support/sway bar delete.

i ordered the k member and non adjustable a-arms

all 3 will give me around a 50-60lb weight reduction

that's a pretty solid drop.. how's the sway bar delete as far as cornering is concerned.. i was wondering how much of an effect that would have.

also

what do you think of the rear-seat delete? it's approx. 40 lbs, but i was wondering if i could customize it so i could buckle people up if i absolutely had to bring more than 1 passenger with me

ive taken the whole rear seat out, theres no way it weighs 40 lbs. i dont know where they get that claim from.

but as far as cornering goes, you can definately feel it. it doesnt bother me, as im not an autocrosser nor a road racer.

i did go on a road trip with 2005stang.com and i kept up very well, even with the swaybarless v6 (in the twisties there was only 1 guy ahead of me).

I've told my wife to get out of the car and that seemed to help. It also makes the shaker sound system sound much better.

Hah... I'm a college kid, so i figured, work on lightening the car and improving the suspension while i'm in school, and worry about FI and the major HP upgrades later when i can afford it.

fazm, I think if you add in teh seatbelts and all the bolts and brackets and the brackets that hold the back of the seat and the bottom of the seat, it might get close to 40lbs...seems like a high number still. Maybe like 25lbs.

delstang86-

hot wheels body kit has carbon fenders, carbon hood.
skipper system weighs a lot.
depends on the seriousness of the drop

Im glad this topic has finally come up. Being the purist I am, I really like things like a rattling steering wheel, road noise, and obnoxiously loud exhaust. I dont care much about looks, so I started to take all of the carpet and insulation out of my new 05 stang!, I took out the spare tire and started to take out the rear seats, but I found that even after all that I wasnt really loosing much weight. I reinstalled the little carpet I had taken out and just decided to leave it. The seats in the rear appear to me to just be cushions on the bare metal. I dont see how that is 40lbs. I figure for every 100lbs a tenth in the quarter, is this reasonable
