Default RE: Stock driveshaft Weight and more HP to come.....

I was inquiring about having a driveshaft made and received a couple of questions for which I don't have an answer.

1. Is the OEM driveshaft on our V6 model44.5" center to center?

2. Is the rear output shaft either a 28- or 31-spline?

Can anyone provide me with this information?

Thanks.

We have a single piece driveshaft by the way, the GT has 2 piece.
I was looking under my car today and noticed the driveshaft has that "accordian boot"-looking thing in the middle. If we have a one-piece driveshaft, what is that boot for?

Thanks.

We have a special Slip yoke kind of driveshaft and it is a big improvement over non slip. What happens is when the rear of the car travels up and down, driveshaft is able to expand and shrink as needed and helps with smoother power transffer. As I understand it, it is smoother ride for rear wheel drive cars. My new driveshaft has the same design.
