Default Auxillary Audio Imput

Hey guys, i got a car satellite radio for my 06 stang, its Sirius. It uses an antenna, and transmits to an FM station. The quality suffers a little, and i wonder if it would be better if i could use the auxillary audio imput jack like the 07's have. Is there any way to install one? how hard is it?

I think you have to get to the head unit to mod this which of course requires taking the dash apart. I know there have been several guys that have done this. As far as the FM transmitter, I found removing the car antenna really cleaned up the signal on my XM but you are right, the best signal is a direct input.

I had the Sirius fm modulator installed with mine -- it fits between the antenna and the antenna jack on the back of the Shaker hu. I found that the wireless transmitter just wasn't working out for me, I had to keep searching for an FM station. With the FM modulator I put it on a clear channel and it transmits directly in. It is a very clean and clearsound now. I think the modulator was around $30 at Best Buy, but I saw it for less recently on the Sirius web site.

and as pat said, you have to pull the dash apart to get to the back of the head unit to install the modulator. It isn't an auxilary input - it connects to the antenna jack and then a wire directly to your Sirius unit.

you can buy a input jack that connects directly to the system bus from PIE----think crutchfield is the place to get them. they're also soon to release one that connects directly to an iPod and you can use the factory radio to control the iPod. those were supposed to be released late december

I am using the Precision Interface Electronics (P.I.E.) adapter from Crutchfield:

You definitely have to take the radio out to put it in, but the sound quality is excellent and the interface is nearly invisible - only a headphone jack shows.
