Upgrade to Shaker 500

RE: Upgrade to Shaker 500
Go to crutchfield.com and purchase yourself a good aftermarket radio. You will also want to replace your stock speakers. I replaced my Ford unit with a Pioneer head unit with external XM box, and the head unit had an aux input that only required a 1/8" stereo plugged cable to use. My head unit is a single DIN with an opening adapter that created a pocket under the radio. I use this pocket to hold stuff I want readily accessible (smokes, gum, cell phone, etc...). I replaced the speakers with Pioneer 5X7 3-ways. Total purchase cost for what I got was $350 with out the XM box, add about $100 for the XM box. My next audio purchase is an amplified subwoofer system to round out the sound. If you buy the stuff from Crutchfield, they will include all the harness adapters (head unit and speakers), Opening adapter, and vehicle specific installation instructions for free. They also provide tech support if you need it.

The only thing you need to be careful of, is that you need to put a 2.00 dollar voltage regulator in line between the new head unit, and the factory amps, to avoid a loud pop upon turning on the unit.....(difference between 12 amp and 5 amp power for subs....)
