Default Beater cars

Just curious how many on this sight have a old beater care to drive to and from work as opposed to wearing out your Mustang? I travel about 75 miles per day to and from work and am seriously considering getting an old car just to go back and forth.

Yup I have my old 1981 Ford F-100 truck I alternate every other day, or the truck three days. I drive 44 miles each way.Getting a beater is worth it if you want to save the miles/maintenance on the Stang. My two cents. I also have an old '72 bug my parents left me I'll drive once in a while to feel embarrassed.

My Mustang has no idea where I work! I have a '87 F150 that I drive to work every day. Besides, you just can't beat having a truck around!

I have a beater truck, but just for winter. I bought it for $1. My grandfather purchased it new in 1982. It is a Chevy C10 Custom Deluxe with 75,000 original miles. I don't know what is deluxe on it since it has no options (2wd, straight 6 cyl, three on the tree manual trans, vinyl seats). It doesn't even have a cigarette lighter which was an option back then. With the 3 on the tree it is kind of fun to drive and I really appreciate the Mustang when I switch back.

I still drive the Mustang in winter when the roads are clean. If it weren't for winter, I don't think it makes any sense to get a beater. Your car payments are same and I would be willing to bet the extra insurance and vehicle registration (not to mention cost of buying and maintaining/repairing a beater) more than outweight the additional depreciation from mileage.

A regular beater is great since you said you said you drive a far distance to work everyday. Get a 4cy foxbody so you still have a stang to drive.

I lol'ed whenI read this. My Mustang knows where i work.
